Kalabash Group LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Ussembly mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
When you register, we collect your email address, password, and name. You may optionally provide a bio and city during profile setup. This information is stored on our servers.
You may upload a profile photo from your device's photo library. Uploaded images are stored on our servers.
With your permission, the App accesses your device contacts (names, phone numbers, and photos) to help you find people you know on Ussembly. Phone numbers are hashed using SHA-256 with a salt on your device before being sent to our server for matching. Raw contact data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database and is never transmitted to our servers in unencrypted form.
With your permission, the App collects your approximate (coarse) GPS coordinates during onboarding. Your location is reverse-geocoded on your device to determine your city name. GPS coordinates are not stored on our servers or persisted beyond this process.
With your permission, the App accesses your microphone for voice input features. All audio is processed entirely on your device using on-device speech recognition (Sherpa ONNX). No audio data is sent to any server or cloud service.
With your permission, the App accesses your camera solely for scanning QR codes to establish connections with other users. QR codes are decoded on your device. No photos or video are captured or stored.
Chat messages you send through the App are transmitted via WebSocket and stored on our servers to provide the messaging service.
A JSON Web Token (JWT) is stored securely on your device using encrypted storage. This token is not sent to any third party.

Ussembly is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
